I have a Big Woody caboose (former L&N # 538) which is located on my late father’s property in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. My father passed away last year, and my brother and I have the house and property up for sale, so I need to find a home for the caboose.

The caboose is in very rough shape, but the frame and trucks are intact, and the railings, ladders, etc. are pretty much all there. The car could be rebuilt with a lot of wood and work, or perhaps someone may have use for the frame and trucks to restore another Big Woody caboose. It could also be rebuilt into the form of a transfer caboose, with the cabin part in the center and long platforms on each end.

I have offered this car as a donation to some RR preservation organizations without success. That offer is still valid. I will also offer the caboose to a private individual who has intentions on rebuilding it.
